Cookbook Library

Our cookbook collection is far from extensive, but we get a lot of mileage out of these essential vegan cookbooks.

Betty Goes Vegan is a good place to start. This index has hundreds of recipes covering breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, and beyond.

Our most used cookbook is probably blogger Bianca Phillip's Cooking Crunk. There's something about Cajun spices and Southern staples like grits and greens that just work with veganism.

DC's Sticky Fingers Bakery has won praise from vegans and omnivores alike under owner Doron Peterson who received national recognition when she won the food network's Cupcake Wars. Sticky Fingers' Sweets reveals the secret recipes that the bakery was built on. Although we've found the recipes in this book quite difficult to execute, if done right the sweets in this book can convince serious skeptics that vegan baking can be delicious.

Other go-to cookbooks for baking on our shelf follow:

If you are an ice cream fan and a vegan, the best thing to do is to buy an ice cream maker and Vegan Scoop. Good store bought vegan ice cream is hard to come by and quite expensive. This book has some delicious ice cream flavors that taste better than store bought ice cream and require simple ingredients you probably already have.

If you want to take your vegan cooking to the next level or want a new hobby you could consider cheese making and Artisan Vegan Cheese could be your guide. We actually haven't had the time to get too deep into this book, but we will be increasing our cheese making efforts soon using this book and we'll be sure to blog about it.

For fancy vegan Japanese dishes we use Kansha. The recipes in this book are quite involved, but the dishes really have some unique flavors and look beautiful too.

Greens are a vegan's best friend. They are not only filled with vitamins, minerals, and other essential nutrients they also are a good source of protein. Wild About Greens has really interesting preparations for all the staple greens and a few exotic ideas as well.

These last 5 books round out our cookbook library. Although, we haven't gotten too deep into these books each has promise and we'll be testing them out soon.
