Some extras

A MoFo edition of "What we eat", even though we've been posting almost every day--some stuff has been left out! So, a quick run-down of the food that didn't get its own post...

Tofu and bok choy in mushroom broth
Check out the new bowls Dan brought from Japan, with the Zodiac on them... and our soup spoons from Hmart that don't match the bowls! This was a soup we made with dried shiitake mushrooms for the broth and some cooking sake. It was really delicious and does deserve its own post, but I feel like we post about soups and Japanese food all the time...

Rice and beans with bok choy vindaloo
On another bok choy note, some time ago we were thinking of how we should prepare bok choy we had, and I threw in a tablespoon of vindaloo paste with some oil and water... voila, bok choy vindaloo. We've made it a few times since then (cutting down to a teaspoon or two because whoa, spicy), and here we have it alongside some leftover coconut rice and beans (I might do another post on that later).

Brownies
I made brownies from Vegan Cookies Invade Your Cookie Jar, but they were kind of duds... they were supposed to be fudgey (it was for the espresso brownies) but came out really dry and crumbly. Still tasty, but something between shortbread and brownies instead of the brownies I hoped for. I'll try another recipe next time. Brownies have actually been the hardest baking feat to really master...

Sticky Fingers donuts!
We had some brunch at Sticky Fingers the week Dan was working from home when he returned from Japan. They had matcha cherry-filled donuts and lemon blueberry-filled... awesome! I especially liked the matcha cherry one. We also had a pair of breakfast sandwiches, which are great; you can only get them to-go from the refrigerator, but you can heat them up on a plate if you want to eat them in-house.

That's pretty much everything worth sharing for now.
